Deaner® is a prescription drug which is available in the United States. We have observed 300 milligrams per day of Deaner® remove all visible lipofuscin age pigment (liver spots) from the skin of a man in his
mid-60s. After a few months, his age spots had faded appreciably and were completely gone in about two years. Normal suntanning was not inhibited, and freckles (which are melanin) were unaffected. Since skin cells (keratinocytes) are bio chemically similar to neurons, and indeed, both are derived from the same fetal tissue, it is plausible that Deaner® would
also be effective in removing lipofuscin from nerve cells.
Hydergine® (made by Sandoz), the prescription drug mentioned earlier, has been proved to slow the rate of lipofuscin accumulation in the brain cells of mammals by a factor of 4. This impressive effect is probably related to its ability to protect the brain from free radical damage resulting from
normal metabolism, lipid autoxidation, and hypoxia (insufficient oxygen). Hypoxia can be caused by heart attack, stroke, narrowed cerebral arteries, massive blood loss, etc. Since both hypoxic brain damage and lipofuscin accumulation are caused by undesired free radical reactions, it shouldn’t be surprising that Hydergine® is very effective in preventing both types of
damage. What is a bit surprising is that this safe and effective prescription drug has been available for a quarter century, is the fifth largest selling prescription drug in the world, but is almost unknown in the United States for either of these purposes, due to FDA restrictions on what its manufacturer may tell physicians.
